Coming to King’s College Hospital
Please consider using public transport as there are good public transport links. Car parking spaces close to King’s College Hospital are very limited and we cannot make any guarantee that a parking space will be available.
The nearest railway station is Denmark Hill which is about 5 minutes walk away from the Hospital campus with regular direct rail links to central London at Blackfriars, London Bridge and Victoria, as well as to principal places in South East London such as Bromley South, Catford, Lewisham and Peckham Rye. Please note that there are about 20 steps to access the platforms at Denmark Hill station and there is no wheelchair access.
Loughborough Junction station, served by Thameslink trains from London Blackfriars via Elephant and Castle, is about 12 minutes walk from the hospital.
By bus or tube
The nearest underground stations are Elephant & Castle and Brixton. Both these stations are some distance from the hospital and we would advise you to complete your journey by bus. A number of buses stop near the hospital. Numbers 40, 42, 68, 176, 185, 468 and 484 stop directly outside the hospital. However many services stop in Camberwell Green or Coldharbour Lane which are within a short walking distance of the hospital.
There is no access by car to the hospital from Denmark Hill. To reach the hospital by car turn into Coldharbour Lane, and from there into Cutcombe Road. A one-way system operates in the hospital campus.
Paid for parking is available in the main car park on Bessemer Road. All revenues from parking fees go towards patient care. Please bear in mind that as spaces are limited there are sometimes queues for this car park.
There are some spaces for registered disabled drivers (a valid blue badge must be displayed) in the car park immediately in front of the Bessemer Road entrance. There is no charge for these spaces. If no spaces are available here, disabled drivers may use the main car park, but the normal fees apply. Blue badge holders may also park free of charge in the roads around the hospital.
